Frequently Asked Questions

Is coaching the right route for me?

When you are in a time of need there are various routes you can choose other than coaching such as counselling, therapy and ministry work. If you need help in overcoming past trauma with deep rooted issues, heavy grief or severe depression you will need a counsellor who can provide a directive root of therapy. If you are looking for fellowship in order to study the Bible, teach doctrine or preaching you will find this within a church setting who can also deal with pastoral care.  Although I class myself as a Coach who overlaps with mentorship & discipleship, going to a Mentor will offer guidance, wisdom and advice. There is a overlap within all these areas and I tend to be flexible in my approach to suit an individuals needs and in order to work alongside the Holy Spirit but I will redirect you should I feel you would be better suited on a  different path.

How long will a
session take?

Coaching sessions are 60 minutes long in which prayer time is included. Initially you will choose a plan that is most suited to your needs and we will cover this over a course of 6 weeks. After that you will be able to block book another 6 weeks to focus on a particular area or you can choose to book extra standalone sessions should you require them. Group work is also available for continued discipleship, prayer support and to keep you connected.

Where will sessions take place?

Sessions will be primarily through a web call, I use 'Google Meets' but you do not have to have a google account or download any software in order to access this web call. If you prefer to have a face to face session and are local we can also arrange this.

Confidentiality

Any conversations we have will be strictly confidential, I will take notes of our discussion but this will be held according to the GDPR requirements. The only time confidentiality would be breached is if there is an immediate concern of harm to yourself or someone else. Should this arise I would make you aware of what I have to share.

1-1 sessions - What can I expect from my sessions?

The session will start with prayer if you are comfortable for me to pray and invite the Holy Spirit to our time. I will then check in on your week, your mood, any challenges you want to discuss but we will also look at a plan that visits scripture, set goals and some exercises that you will do outside of each session. We will also spend time to review this each week, give praise for any accomplishments and set mini goals for the next week. We will then pray before the session ends and give your challenges up to God. There is no requirement for you to pray out aloud unless you want too.

1-1 sessions - When will I start to see change?

This really depends on the challenge that you face and the completion of your work to do outside of sessions. Change starts with a willing heart, we will set you up with some practical things to do which will include some bible reading and prayer time. There is scientific evidence for the reduction of stress & anxiety the more days you read the Bible per week, so with this in mind you could see a difference as soon as you press into your relationship with Jesus.

1-1 sessions - What happens if I can't make a session I have booked?

There is a 48 hour cancellation window where we can move your appointment should you need too. Unfortunately any cancellations made within 48 hours will not be refunded.

1-1 sessions - What if after a few sessions I decide this course isn't for me?

The first session you have with me will be paid at time of booking but as a standalone cost, this is to ensure we are both happy to work together and that I can help you with your goals. Should you then book and pay for the following sessions but choose to change plans this is absolutely fine you will just need to make me aware if you are unhappy or feel you are on the wrong path. You can do this by sending me an email at any time outside of sessions, give me a call/message or talk to me during the appointment time. If you wish to withdraw completely for any reason as long as the next appointment booked is not within 48 hours you are entitled to a refund for any sessions you have not yet had.

Group sessions -What if I don't get along with the people in my group?

If you enrol for group coaching and feel you are more suited to a different group of people there may be the possibility to move if you speak with me personally however I cannot promise this and will encourage you to pray into it because God often surrounds us with people who challenge us or have experiences that we can learn from.

Group sessions -Do I need to be a Christian to join?

No you do not have to be a Christian to join but you would need to be open to exploring the Christian journey and receiving Jesus into your heart.

Group sessions -What if I can't attend a session?

Group coaching will not be re-arranged if you can't attend the session or have internet issues and the monthly fee will still apply.

Group sessions - How do the monthly fees work?

You will receive your first group session free of charge as a trial session and then payment for the full month will be taken to join the group. Monthly payments are then paid by an automated payment system. If you attend part of the monthly package but then cancel you will not be refunded for the remainder of the month. Notice needs to be given before the next month should you want to end your enrolment when your automated payments will be cancelled.

Group sessions - How much of the Bible do I need to know to keep up or understand the discussion?

There are no requirements for your current bible knowledge, you will pick up what the Holy Spirit wants you to learn at the right time and sessions are made suitable for all levels of understanding.

Group sessions - Do I have to contribute or can I just listen?

It is absolutely fine to join and say hello and then listen rather than contribute to the session; especially as you get to know others and build trust within the group. There are no requirements to talk or pray out loud at any point but should you wish too you will be given the opportunity. The groups are for relational purposes too so I am sure as you feel more comfortable you will enjoy joining in.
